There are many interesting and ancient sites to visit locally: The famous Uffinton White Horse Hill, The Seven Barrows, Wayland Smithy, The Blowing Stone and Segsbury Castle are all within easy distance, either on foot, by bicycle, on horse back or, for those rainy days, by car. An Ordnance Survey Map can be provided if you wish to explore.
Eastbury Grange has to be the bird watchers paradise, from the garden alone you will see several types of owls including the Barn Owl, the Little Owl, and just a short walk away the Long Eared Owl . The Buzzard and the spectacular Red Kite are never far away and in Springtime we have the cuckoo that comes to the area and very often visits our garden.
Other animals to see in and around our garden include the fallow, row and muntjac deer, the fox and also the badger.
We have some very good local market towns nearby which all have excellent amenities and good places to visit.
This is the birth place of the famous King Alfred The Great, any one who loves english history has to visit Wantage, which has been an important market town for over 2,000 years. It has a very good library and an excellent museum.
This interesting town has been a prosperous and popular place to visit for hundreds of years, with its many historic buildings and a good variety of shops makes this a great place to visit. Also, being home to the Corn Exchange Theatre and the West Berkshire Museum, Newbury provides any visitor with lots to see and do.( Newbury has a train and bus station )
This small, picturesque market town is full of lovely antique and unusual gift shops. With the Kennet and Avon canal running through it (boat trips available from the town center), and having its own common, Hungerford is a great place to visit. Not far away from here is the famous Combe Gibbet another historical site that runs along the Ridgeway.
